Debbie's update - September 15 · Sep 15, 03:32 PM

Jeremiah 29:11…“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity t give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, declares the Lord…”

Thanks for asking. The doctors believe the cancer has come back in the same place…under the left arm in the lymph nodes, but the scans don’t show that it has spread anywhere else, which is good news. Both the surgeon and oncologist were obviously pleased at this news, as were we. I am having an incision biopsy of the enlarged lymph node and a lump in the left breast (which appears benign) this coming Monday, the 17th. Then, depending on the results we will make the next step…more chemo or removal of all of the lymph nodes under the left arm.

We saw a new oncologist today for various reasons…new perspective, insurance issues and her specialty is breast cancer. We were impressed with her as a doctor and pleased with our time there. After looking through all of my records (which is a lot of papers!) she began to ask questions that we have wondered about for a long time…namely…Is there cancer in the breastbone? The previous oncologist has been wonderful, but even though he said he believed there was cancer in the breastbone, never addressed it with radiation or even a biopsy to find out if there really is cancer there. She also questioned removing all of the lymph nodes if we don’t know clearly that there is cancer in the breastbone.

So, we feel we are being carried along in the “rhythms of grace” and that the Lord continues to direct the course we are following. I am more confident than ever that He is in control and loves me and has purpose in all of this. We do not feel anxious, although we have talked extensively about the possibilities and cried alot. I believe Joseph and I both feel peace at this point and continue to enjoy life as it comes.

Thanks, again, for your prayers. I feel encouraged and carried by them.

Blessings, Debbie
