Psalm 130 – A Journey Song

1-2 Help, GOD—the bottom has fallen out of my life! Master, hear my cry for help!
Listen hard! Open your ears!
Listen to my cries for mercy.

3-4 If you, GOD, kept records on wrongdoings,
who would stand a chance?
As it turns out, forgiveness is your habit,
and that’s why you’re worshiped.

5-6 I pray to GOD—my life a prayer—
and wait for what he’ll say and do.
My life’s on the line before God, my Lord,
waiting and watching till morning,
waiting and watching till morning.

7-8 O Israel, wait and watch for GOD—
with GOD’s arrival comes love,
with GOD’s arrival comes generous redemption.
No doubt about it—he’ll redeem Israel,
buy back Israel from captivity to sin.

Did you ever feel that way…that the bottom has fallen out and you are falling, head over heels and you don’t know where you will end up? Sometimes there seems to be absolutely nothing solid to hold onto, but do you know what I have discovered? I have discovered that is the best time to cry out to God. Because he is a father, a daddy, and it is in the heart of every father to run to their child to help them when they cry out.

This morning when I read this psalm aloud to Joseph, I began to weep when I read that God is known for his forgiveness…thank God! So, this battle I am having with cancer is not a punishment for some wrong I have done. It is a chance to cry out to him and wait and see what he will do. My life is on the line, but he will respond with love and deliver me. Each difficult time I pass through is but another opportunity to know him more deeply and learn to trust him. I think the problem is that I have a temporary perspective instead of an eternal one. Lord, help me to see this life from your perspective. – Debbie

  1. Thank you Debbie. Psalm 130 is lovely. I have felt before that the bottom was falling out and I was falling. God is so faithful and gracious to us. He loves us so much, and longs for us to come to Him with every detail of our life including the good, bad and the ugly. He wants to be our all in all. Thank you for the reminder Debbie. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You are a precious child of the living God. May He continue to pour into your life His mercy, wisdom, grace, favor, and love. May His joy and peace flood your life each moment of the day.

  2. I was worry about you since I had not heard from you. Thank God for putting my worries to rest. Always in my prayers. The lastes word the Lord gave me (this Sunday morning). Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow has worry of its own. Love you and hope to see you soon. Again, you have a loving and very supporting family. Our family so precious & important to us.
