Last night we had the joy of having many of our good friends over for my 57 year birthday party. It was really a lot of fun to have everyone here.
Some friends came all the way from North Africa to attend
Others dear friends came from the next street over …
The Latin American and Caribbean Studies department turned out in force….
As so did the History Department ..
and my delighteful group of WoW friends from Stick & Stein’s in Homestead …
even a couple of nice people from the IR department…
there was food …
.... Music ….
... and dancing …
(Carlos! he’s everywhere…he’s everywhere….)
but most of all, there was the sweet smiling face of the one I love with all my heart!

I spoke to my neighbor across the street on Sat. and he said, “Hi Bob.” I’ve never been called “Bob” before. Maybe it was a complement.

it is a personal joke between me and “The man who says BOB” above.
we were talking one day about whether God really exists or not. He said that he could believe in a divine spirit who created and guided the universe but that he could not stand “religion” ... I said “me neither! but what about friendship? if the divine creator is infinitely large enough to run the universe, can he not also be infinitely small enough to care about you and desire to be your close friend?”
My friend, ‘The Man,’ said, “BOB, I will call him BOB. From what you are saying, he must be the Buddy of Buddies”
Thats why we joke about BOB.
