Proverbs 18:22 says he who find a good wife, finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. Proverbs 31:12 says that the woman of noble character does her husband “good and not harm all the days of his life.”

Little did I know 40 years ago when I was sitting in High School study hall, that the shy, pretty girl sitting three seats behind me would spend a lifetime “doing me good.”

Yesterday Deb and I celebrated 34 years of happy marriage together. It has been an adventure! And the adventure continues…. We do not know what the next few years hold for us, but we do know that God is good and that he is waiting for us around the bend in the path ahead.

I was walking with a friend through the New Orlean’s airport security a few weeks ago. She found out that Deb and I have been married over 30 years and asked me “what is the secret to a successful life-long relationship? Without hesitating, I told her, “sticking to it, no matter what, and resolving conflict, especially the little ones. Twenty minutes later, after going through the security check point, my friend looked me and said, “I have been thinking about what you said, and I think you are right.”

I can only hope and pray that all of you who read this will enjoy a life time of happiness and joy as we have.

  1. Thanks for the inspirational update. I personally pray for Debbie and the family almost daily as I head to Homestead(SDHS) for work. We love you guys. The “goodness and mercy of the Lord shall dwell with us all the days of our lives.” And after that we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever!!!!! What more can we ask for?
