Love God and don’t give up! Psalm 31, #5 · Jul 7, 07:39 AM

This is the final post regarding Psalm 31.

What is most important in life? Going through depression, I often find myself in an Ecclesiastes kind of mood; vanity, vanity, all is vanity. There is nothing new under the sun. Whats the point? Screw it.

The point is to learn to know God, to love him, and to trust him through faithful obedience. To be a good steward of the life he has given me – he has numbered my days, and he has appointed good works that I should do. As mother Teresa once said, “The very best that we can do in life is no more than a drop in the ocean; but if we do not do our part, that drop will never exist.”

The Psalmist implies that if we love God and stay close to him, he will take care of us. The arrogant are those who think they don’t need God and that they can go it alone.

The final words of Psalm 31 are the encouragement to be brave and to be strong. In the famous words of Winston Churchill: “Never, never, never give up.” Churchill also said, “
Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities… because it is the quality which guarantees all others.”

24 Be brave. Be strong. Don’t give up.
Expect God to get here soon.

If you have called out to him, and you love him, expect God to show up and to come to your rescue.
