I have been in Psalms 42-43… this morning Deb read psalm 44.

Psalm 42 shows us an interesting facet of the Psalmist and his prayer life: he questions God.

Sometimes I ask God, my rock-solid God, “why did you let me down? Why am I walking around in tears, harassed by enemies?”

Again in Psalm 43, the Psalmist questions God, “I counted on your, God —why did you walk out on me? Why am I pacing the floor, wringing my hands over these outrageous people?

we all have moments when we question God. Even when we challenge him… I love the verse in Psalm 44, near the end of the chapter where the Psalmist says, “Get up, God! Are you going to sleep all day? Wake up, don’t you care what happens to us?”

Its ok to have honest, even confrontational conversations with God…like a child and parent… its called prayer.

When we are honest with God, it usually ends up like it does in Psalm 42 and 43:

why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God—soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s may God.
