thurs. morning in class ... · Jul 31, 09:24 AM

...Also, most of my depression seemed to lift off of me about 10 days ago, and I have not had much inspiration to write about it.
Why am I less depressed now than a few weeks ago? There are probably several factors.
1) I started on anti-depressant medication a couple of months ago. It takes time for the chemical balance in the brain to be restored (I know that people normally don’t talk about this, but at this point, I don’t really care what people think about me).
2) Since I am only taking two classes this summer (instead of four classes and TA work), I have been getting a lot more sleep and rest. Sleep is a very powerful issue with states of mind and depression.
3) I finally figured out that I was going through a process of grief related to the doctor’s prognosis that Debbie would need to stay on chemo the rest of her life. I went through the classic 5 stages of grief over a 9 month period and just recently exited out of the 4th stage, depression, into acceptance.
In a couple of days, I will put some info on here about the stages of grief. But for now… back to class. I only have two more classes and one and a half papers to go.
By-the-way, I read Psalm 60 this morning, but I couldn’t find anything inspirational or insightful in it today. Just more “God don’t abandon me and please beat up the bad guys.” I probably should have prayed harder.
Ciao
