Psalm 118:17-18 · Jan 10, 09:07 AM

Thank you for all of your prayers! This has been a wonderfully blessed and busy season: our daughter Jessica had her third son over a month ago,

my mother and Joseph’s parents came to Florida for Christmas,

and then I went with Joseph to New York to attend the American Historical Association over New Year’s Eve. Life is good!

My doctors have been concerned about the increasing protein levels in my urine, which indicates a problem with my kidneys. One of the drugs I was taking, avastin, has a side effect of negatively affecting the kidneys, so my oncologist took me off of it a couple of months ago. Since then, my cancer markers have been going up, and the pain in my chest and back where the tumor was in the breastbone has returned. My doctor had me do a PET scan several days ago to check to see if the tumors are growing again. We will know the results in a few days.

Although there have been some difficult and tearful moments, my faith is in the Lord. I have been meditating on Psalm 118:17-18:

I will not die but live,
And will proclaim what the Lord has done.
The Lord has chastened me severely, but he had not given me over to death.

Thank you all again for your wonderful friendship, emotional support and prayers as we begin a new year!

Love, Debbie

  1. “If you were any braver, you would be a lioness.” We just watched Prince Caspian last night.

    We’re praying for you.
