JOHN 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
Thank you, Lord, for friends. They come from all different backgrounds and experiences and they come into our lives at specific times that I believe are directed by your divine hand…to rejoice with us, to cry with us, to walk through a difficult time with us or just to listen to us as we share our hearts.

Last night Joseph and I attended the lovely wedding of my previous employer. I love weddings! They are a time to see and hug old friends and catch up on their lives and enjoy, even for a few short hours, a time to put aside our cares and enter into the joy of the bride and groom who are so, so in love. What a wonderful atmosphere is created by their love.
Sometimes I think how blessed I am to have such wonderful friends. There is my dear friend from high school (8th grade actually) who still calls/writes just to see how I am doing and to ask if I need her to come and sit with me. There is the friend who is “closer than a sister” who checks in every now and then and when she is in my home she makes me laugh and knows just what to do to make me feel cared for. Some “old” friends come from other states and countries, at great expense, just to visit and pray for me. And then there are new friends like those I have met during this battle with cancer…who totally understand words like pain, nausea, extreme weariness because they have walked there too. Aren’t friends wonderful? It seems like they know just when to “show up” to encourage me.
Right now I am on a short break from chemo…the doctor suggested two weeks to try to gain some strength back (physical and emotional). It feels so good not to think about doctors, chemo, shots or anything else to do with cancer if even for a short time. Doc calls it a quality of life break. All of my tests are stable for the moment, for which I am grateful. And Joseph is on spring break from classes, so we are simply enjoying life this week…spending time with our children and grandchildren, having lunch together at the picnic table in the back yard and with old friends as the opportunity arises. I hope you choose to “take time” to enjoy life with your friends and family too. Time moves so quickly!

Blessings,
Debbie

Medical Update - Psalm 16 ROM 8:28 - good things and gratitude
I don’t know where the picture of you (sitting alone with the blue hat) was taken but my artistic eye sees it as the most beautiful picture I’ve ever seen of you. Looks like a painting, Deb! LYL (Love ya lots)

Joseph, Debbie,
I was thinkng last night about sitting on the living room floor in your house back in Reynoldsburg and thinkng “someday, I want to be like these two”, I so admired the way you opened your lives to hurting people around you. Any sunshine that comes your way is well deserved and I hope you realize that you are always in my thoughts and prayers.
