ECC 3:8 A time to love… · Feb 7, 03:00 PM

We just celebrated the wedding of our youngest daughter, Ruth to Mike Rivera, in our home on January31st in the afternoon. It was a small but lovely ceremony with just our families, about 20 people in all. We all rejoiced as they were pronounced “husband and wife.” How lovely it is to witness the love between a couple as they begin their life together.

Ruth was radiant as they exchanged vows. It made my heart glad to see her and Mike so happy. And instead of having a big wedding they bought a nice townhouse, just a couple of years old and in great condition for a good price.

They have been working together to unpack boxes, paint and bring order to their place. She is an FAA officer and Air Traffic Controller in training and at the top of her class. Mike is a cook at a local Ruby Tuesdays…a very good one I might add.

I am doing well.. My tumor markers have all come down to the normal range, and the oncologist has changed me to a new chemo called Navelbine. It has the nasty side affect of making my hands and feet numb in addition to the common side affects of chemo, but the new drug seems to be helping shrink the tumors. I am still a very active grandma and love it. Someone told me I was the busiest sick person they’d ever know…ha! The truth is I don’t consider myself sick, I just concentrate on living each day. Some days are tough, but we all have tough days. I am currently getting over the flu.

My beloved Joseph is working hard with research for his dissertation and working as a TA (teacher’s assistant) It keeps him quite busy during the week and some weekends, not to mention other things he does…such as a wedding this weekend and a Cuban Research Conference. Friday nights are usually our date night and Sundays we take long walks along the marina near us and try to do one of my many projects (he’s so patient with me…hehehe) and we usually take some time to rest as well.

Well, I hope 2010 has many blessings in store for you and yours! Thank you for your continued prayers, they continue to carry me through this season.

Blessings,
Debbie
