The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say. -J. R. R. Tolkien

I finished my qualifying exams last Thursday morning and I will find out in a week or so how I did. Hopefully this brings to a close a very intense threes years of full-time study in my life, and now begins a period of teaching and research leading up to writing my dissertation. I will be a teaching assistant this fall for an historical archeologist who will be teaching early Greek and Roman history. I am really looking forward to it!

We are headed home in a few hours.
This has been the experience of a lifetime for Deb and me. It has been many years since we have been able to share six weeks together like this without one of us holding down a full or part time job

JESUS-STYLE AUTHORITY · May 5, 12:34 AM

I have recently been going through a process of re-examination of the biblical teaching on spiritual authority. Paul Petrie actually got me started down this track with his emphasis on the “Jesus and the Twelve” model.

Make disciples · Mar 27, 11:34 PM

Go and make disciples of all the people-groups: (Matt. 28:19). This is probably my favorite command of Christ and one that I have attempted to define my life by. Debbie and I had the good fortune of beginning our walk in the kingdom by being trained to be disciples. We also have attempted, not always successfully, to teach others.

RECEIVE GOD’S POWER · Mar 27, 11:27 PM

I just returned from New York last night where my son, John, and I attended an International Arts conference that applied the principles of the kingdom through the arts…using musical, dramatic and visual arts as metaphors. The kingdom is moving through new channels in the earth.

Jan. 21, 2007 – I have been baptized three times in my life. The first time was after I responded to an invitation by Billy Graham at age 12 in Columbus, Ohio… I was baptized in a creek in Columbus, the same one that Debbie was baptized in.

FEED MY SHEEP · Mar 27, 11:15 PM

Greetings fellow followers of the teachings of Jesus!

I just noticed that it has been over six weeks since I sent out the last teachings of Jesus outline. I have been sending weekly prayer updates to a smaller group of people who have indicated an interest in providing prayer cover for me in my university outreach.
