The Road goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, And I must follow, if I can, Pursuing it with eager feet, Until it joins some larger way Where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say. -J. R. R. Tolkien

IF YOU LOVE HIM, KEEP HIS COMMANDS · Mar 27, 10:47 PM

a lot has happened in the last few weeks…finished the thesis, painted two houses, moved back to our old house, and spoke at a family camp in Ohio. We returned from Ohio yesterday, and I dropped Deb off from the airport and drove straight to FIU to class. The next month will be a whirlwind. Ruth is leaving in 10 days for 3 months of mission work with Jamie Johnson in Costa Rica. Please pray for her safe travels, her back, and for her financial support.

BE A SERVANT · Mar 21, 09:02 PM

Nov. 12, 2005 “It is not so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (MAT 20:26-28)

#27 BEWARE OF "LEAVEN" - Jan. 18, 2005 · Mar 3, 10:17 PM

I was reflecting this morning on the power of little things, smallness. There is a scripture talks about not despising “the day of small things” (ZEC 4:10). Jesus talked about the power of faith the size of a small seed, and the power of a mustard seed to grow and reproduce.

#25 TAKE MY YOKE - Dec. 3, 2004 · Mar 3, 09:58 PM

This week’s teaching of Jesus is intended for tired and weary people and is found in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light” (MAT 11:28-30).

#8 - KEEP YOUR WORD - May 27, 2004 · Mar 3, 07:28 PM

Well, it happened again. A friend of mine needed a job done and hired a Christian “brother” to do the job. Over nine months later, the job is still not done, and the “brother” is not returning his calls. Same old story…. If you want something done, and want it done right, with excellence; DON’T HIRE A CHRISTIAN!

#7-DO NOT LUST - May 18, 2004 · Mar 3, 07:20 PM

This is a good one. One day, several months ago, one of the young men in our mentoring network confided in my son, John, that he was having difficulties in this area. I had not yet put together an outline for this command, so I gave John the book containing this study and had him sit down and read through it. Then, I gave him $10 and told him to take his young friend to Taco Bell and teach him what he had just learned. The best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else.
